The use of suitable punch defect free port needles is of great importance in preventing complications and preserving the durability of the port/catheter system.

Various commonly available special needles with the so-called Huber bevel and other variations do not fulfill these requirements unfortunately. Punch defects and liberation of silicone particles and bending of the needle tips are possible complications.

These microparticles are often not visible to the naked eye and lie in the lumen of the needle. Serious problems may result from these.

In contrast, the tip of the SFN® needle with its special bevel and lateral openings does not bend.
